SuperPump MAX is the new ridiculously strong and potent pre-workout supplement brought to you by Gaspari Nutrition – which is obviously the same guys who created SuperPump 250 – a nitric oxide supplement that absolutely devastated the market with it’s monstrous pumps and energy.
SuperPump MAX – The Background Story
The bad news is that SuperPump 250 is being phased out and discontinued. The better news is that Gaspari SuperPump MAX absolutely levels SuperPump 250 in nearly every category, from nutrition, to pump, to clean energy, to strength gains. Gaspari found some new science, but the labs aren’t where real success is made. So they got their trusted beta testers (who loved 250), put it to the test, got results, tweaked it further, and the MAX was born.

Before going deeper into the SuperPump 250 vs. SuperPump MAX discussion, let’s take a look at its main ingredients to get a feel for things.
SuperPump MAX Ingredients
First and foremost, Gaspari Nutrition SuperPump MAX contains a great deal of L-Taurine. Taurine is an awesome muscle hydrator, and is becoming quite popular in both the bodybuilding and endurance sports communities. The last thing you want to happen is to have your muscles get dehydrated! Taurine takes care of that problem.
Another new and interesting component inside is Sustamine, or L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine. This is a new form of glutamine that works much better than standard L-Glutamine, since it doesn’t break down in your gut, and actually gets into the muscles without having to take monstrous doses of it. Sustamine is another great endurance supplement.
The endurance complex inside doesn’t necessarily bring anything new to the table, but it brings working and proven amino acids in L-Citrulline (popular in Scivation Xtend) and L-Carnitine L-Tartrate (Carnipure). Both of these are proven in double-blinded, placebo-controlled studies to increase endurance and reduce fatigue!
Furthermore, Super Pump MAX contains some BCAAs – 2g of Leucine, and an unknown amount of Isoleucine and Valine. BCAAs are the building blocks of your muscle tissue and promote protein promote muscle synthesis – also proven in studies – and even reduce fatigue as well! If you want, you can also add more unflavored BCAAs to it and it will still taste fine.
We appreciate that Gaspari tells us how much creatine monohydrate is in this product – 1.3g. This means that I know I am still safe putting about 4g more in my post-workout shake. I’m cool with proprietary formulas – companies need to protect their brand – but some things like creatine are simply no magical secret anymore. Just tell me how much there is, nobody’s gonna steal that number, and I can adjust the rest of my intake. Kudos to you, Gaspari!!
Finally, let’s talk about the energy complex. Last but definitely not least. L-Tyrosine is a brain focus amino acid that helps get you in the zone. Of course, there’s caffeine too, which will give you plenty of energy.
If you can see one thing in this product, it’s that it contains a lot of endurance components. SuperPump 250 was always great at the pump, but now you get the best of both worlds so that your workout can last forever!
SuperPump MAX Nutrition
Another huge change in MAX is that there are only 3g of carbohydrates. Popularized by supplements such as Jack3d, 0 carbs became a big thing. If you want to burn fat, you really don’t need 8g of carbs in every scoop – especially from maltodextrin, which will induce fat storage.
However, you do want some carbs in your pre-workout if you want to gain some size!! Not a ton, but enough to get your insulin moving and ready to shuttle nutrients to your muscles. So with SuperPump MAX, you’ll be getting anywhere from 3-9g of high-glycemic carbs – the perfect amount – to provide you with a bit of caloric energy as well as insulin.
SuperPump 250 vs. SuperPump MAX
Overall, SuperPump MAX works much better for me. Less maltodextrin is critical. Using glycerin-based components rather than arginine or AAKG will be a great change-up from every other pre-workout supplement. This is a great product to cycle into. All of the endurance components listed above really do work – MAX isn’t just for lifting – it can be used for your runs, swims, CrossFit, P90X, and anything else.
If you’re a big fan of AAKG, though, then you might want to add your own – it’s quite cheap and will not affect the taste since the flavors are moderately strong anyway.
Overall, we’re extremely happy with Super Pump MAX, mainly due to less maltodextrin, more endurance, and bringing something new with the glycerin-based components, and that’s how we feel about SuperPump MAX vs. SuperPump 250
SuperPump MAX Review
As we’ve mentioned above, the complex is incredible and it works well. So let’s talk about FLAVORS! I’m personally a big fan of blue raspberry, and this one tastes really good – but very strong. One scoop of SuperPump MAX can easily overwhelm 20oz of water. So if you like your blue razz strong or lots of water before you work out, you’ll love this one.
I haven’t had Raspberry Lemonade, but this was the big winner for SuperPump 250, and looking at Gaspari SuperPump MAX reviews around the web, Gaspari nailed it once again.
Concluding our SuperPump MAX review, fruit punch blast is standard fruit punch. If you like fruit punch, you’ll be happy with this. The same goes for Pink Lemonade, which I’m normally not a fan of, so I didn’t bother with this one either.
Here’s another video review – Our biggest problem with what Aaron’s saying is that first off, changing to Glycerin-based pump is a big innovation, and second – he doesn’t use a shaker! This stuff mixes PERFECTLY FINE if you put the water in first, and use a shaker, not a straw. I even think if he had the water in first, a straw would have been OK. Either way, not a bad video:
SuperPump MAX Side Effects
It all comes down to what’s inside – and everything in SuperPump 250 MAX is extremely safe. Most of this product is naturally-occurring amino acids. However, the biggest thing to be concerned about is if you’re caffeine-sensitive, you might want to stay at one scoop, as you should know with pre-workout supplements by now.
You will need to look up the side effects of every ingredient to get an idea for the side effects of SuperPump MAX, but each of these components is extremely safe. Just stick within the dosing, don’t mix it with other caffeinated products (ie no thermogenic fat burners near your workout on workout days), and you’re all set.
